The Rockingham Police Department's calls for service are dispatched through the ECOMM county wide dispatch center.

Use 9-1-1 for emergency calls and 910-997-8238 for non-emergencies.

Chief Gillenwater is a strong proponent of community policing and actively encourages his officers to engage with the citizens of Rockingham. The Rockingham Police Department regularly participates in community events and hosts several opportunities throughout the year for residents to visit the department and connect with officers on a more personal level.

The Rockingham Police Department is located in Richmond County, NC and serves a population of approximately 10,000 citizens. 

There are 36 sworn officers and two full-time administrative assistants. The Criminal Investigations Division consists of seven investigators. The Police Department also has four specialized units including: Traffic Enforcement team, Tactical Response Unit, UAV unit and a K-9 unit.
